We’ve all been there. We wake up on January 1 and despite everything we know — they’re often a bad idea, almost always thought up impulsively and will usually end up just making us feel worse about ourselves — we decide to write down some new year’s resolutions. The instinct is understandable; we all want to enter the new year with a renewed sense of enthusiasm and optimism. But there’s something to be said about taking a more…realistic approach that isn’t going to set yourself up for failure.
This year, forget the resolutions altogether. Instead, set yourself a to-do list of all the things you might usually put off — an eye check, mani & pedi, stock up on vitamins and maybe sign up to the gym if you’re feeling particularly spritely. Not only an excellent excuse to take a personal day and delay your return to work a little more, but you’ll get on top of everything in one go and feel better about the year ahead. Even better? You can do it all at The Galeries.
Get an eye check at Paris Miki Optical
It’s one of those things we rarely ever do: get our eyes checked. So do it at the start of the year and enter 2025 knowing you’re sorted. While you’re there you might even want to get a new pair of sunnies because why not?
Go for a manicure and pedicure at Cleopatra Body and Nails
You simply must start the year feeling as together as possible and we all know that begins with having a mani and pedi. You could decide to go for something trendy like a mocha chrome nail, or maybe more subtle with a short, chic french manicure but whatever you’re choice, it’ll leave you feeling ready to take on the year.
Stock up on vitamins at Elite Supplement
Whether it’s getting some magnesium to help your sleep or stocking up on protein powder for your morning smoothies, Elite has you sorted for the supplements that will keep your health in check all year.
Secure your new year stationary at Muji
If you’re like us, the last time you went shopping for pens or pencils was probably in primary school. But shopping for stationary is one of life’s purest pleasures and gets you sorted for work in a way that often goes unappreciated. Meetings are so much more fun when you have a pen in hand that you love so pick some up from Muji.
Go for a Free Visit at Fitness First
One of the most quickly abandoned resolutions is always something to do with physical exercise. But if you can’t remember the last time you did a squat, then you don’t need to commit to suddenly going to the gym 5 times a week. The team at Fitness First offers a free guest visit for you to check out the gym and see if you vibe. If anything, you should just use it as an opportunity to take the first step of doing something and figure out a realistic as well as enjoyable way to incorporate movement into your weekly routine.
